Monday Miniatures: Grandmother

This week we paint a grandmother. Its a bit vanilla as far as the bones line goes, so a lot of people chose to pass on this one, but we still have 4 painters strutting their stuff.

MeI can’t tell if she looks pissed or extremely skeptical, but my shading certainly seems to have her a bit out of sorts. All and all this model was a bit dull to paint, but thats okay – I had very little time to spare. I’m back to Florida this week, you see.

Cleaninglady Arjen

Arjen spent most of his time unpacking his Bones 2, and painting the backdrop, but I do like his cool color scheme.

Jessi had the brightest color scheme this week.

Dirk painted my favorite mini this week. The subtle free hand and the basing work is nice, but I actually love the face. It has all the personality my attempt lacks afterall.

Brian like some of our other artists associated yellow with a dingy chambermaid. She looks  a bit threadbare, but then, that’s the point.

Rustkill sent a thumbnail by accident. I will update this when i get a larger picture.

David B is creating a set of matching aliens.

Magnus has some great highlighting on the apron, and I think he nailed a very passive expression. Bravo!

4/26/15 – Red Dragon – Week 1 – this is a big model, so this week are just looking for a WIP.

5/3/15 – Red Dragon – Week 2 – Now’s your chance to really show off. You’ve had 2 weeks and a gorgeous sculpt – blow me away.

  1. I really need to e-mail you my pictures sooner… the problem is I’m usually painting late Sunday night while I game!

    • Hi David. I try to solve this problem by working one mini ahead (I do not succeed half the time). That is why David W tells us all the minis weeks before.

      • I tried that Arjen, but then I wound up getting the figures mixed up and sending the wrong pictures on the wrong weeks. *That* didn’t work out… 😛

I’m another “evening painter”, so it’s hard to finish painting, get the figure sealed, take/edit/upload pictures, and then get them emailed off by the deadline. Still, as long as David W. doesn’t mind late submissions, I’ll keep sending them in when I can.

  3. I really like Magnus’ broken crockery. The marbled flooring that Jessi managed is pretty fantastic as well.

I forget if there are multiple David B’s, but the green machine wasn’t me. My picture seemed to get missed (maybe we named our file the same!)
