Back From The Dead

Hello everyone. I haven’t been around for a long, long time. In fact, anyone that found this site recently probably thought it was dead. I suppose that it was true the last couple years.

First and foremost, before I talk about me or what I’ve been up to, I would like to thank Dirk and Antonia for carrying the torch for as long as they did. It was truly impressive, and a couple times while they were posting I was tempted to come back, but somehow life was always too busy, and at a certain point it just felt like their place, you know? But now that my life has a quiet moment, I thought I would come back and provide the occasional update.

It’s been almost 8 years since your last post David. Where have you been?

Fair question. When last here I was dealing with a work situation so stressful I ultimately quit, and took a similar job in Iowa. There I was supposed to have a smaller site, and fewer people working for me, so I could focus on things like writing and painting. That was true… for a year. Then they built a second site, and a third, and soon I was right back where I was before with working 60 hours a week. As a result I did nothing creative for like a year and a half as I worked myself to death.

It was pretty intolerable, and then I had back surgery. Ultimately I quit after Covid, and am currently going back to school to finish my bachelors degree. So, at least there’s that right? Oh, I’m also engaged. Life is crazy, but I wouldn’t change a thing.

Are you still painting?

I wish I was still painting. Currently, My miniatures and paints are in a storage unit in Iowa, so no painting for the foreseeable future.

What I am doing a LOT of lately is writing. I write a couple web novels now for fun, which you can find here. I’m also writing short stories with the goal of getting published, and I have my first finished novel out awaiting its first rejection.

What will I do with this site now?

Good question. Probably sometime next year I will need to build a portfolio site for projects, so I can get hired somewhere in the realm of coding, but for now I will probably just post about writing occasionally.

Any news on The Wardenclyffe Horror?

None yet. There was a brief period of time prior to the stock market crash last year when we were looking at just paying an artist out of pocket. I even approached the original artist during the lockdown and offered him double to finish it. Sadly that did not come to pass. Regardless, we still plan on seeing it done, but I have no timeline.

So yeah, I’m around, I plan on posting occasionally, and I hope to get more painting and creative content posted here and there, but I wouldn’t expect anything like regular posting just yet.
