Miniature Monday: Elladan Elf Ranger

This time, three painters followed mysterious elven trails into the woods and found very different versions of Elladan the Elf Ranger!

And yet another elf…! Yes, I know. I mean, elves are pretty stunningly beautiful and very flimsy graceful creatures, but since I’m more of a monster person (you will see!) I let Dirk paint this one too, matching his previous “D&D Forgotten Realms’ Forest Elves” theme:

I’m once again surprised how detailed the bones minis are with their rather soft material. The leaf structures come out nicely, he even added some freehand leaves on the back, and I really like the overall color scheme Dirk chose – it absolutely gives the “living and survival in the woods” feeling. Also, mute and natural colors very much are my thing 😉

Bettina’s mini is still a work in progress, but you can see where she’s going:

Also living in the Forgotten Realms, but of a completely different complexion are Moon Elves – Bettina wanted to try a newly mixed color for the skin since she plans to re-paint her (Warhammer Fantasy Battle) Wood Elves army and make them bluish Moon Elves, so this guy is the guinea pig 😀

Besides the skin itself (which looks very moon elvish for my eyes), I like the carefully accented edges of coat and leaf decorations, esp. on the “apron”. Finished the mini will look great for sure!

William had a completely different take on Elleron, and a great one! Have a look:

He wrote that his color scheme was inspired by the Elf in the classic “HeroQuest” boardgame and I love how well he translated the old reference material. elf

The color nuances are awesome, William even re-modelled the base to make it resemble dungeon floor (i.e. the game board surface)! Also great work with the face, it’s stunningly detailed!

So here we go – again fascinating how different one puny elf miniature can look 😀

And next week, we’ll finally catch up with Bones II! Are you as excited as I am?

Have a great week!

Yours, Antonia

  1. heck! you guys started without me.
I like how Dirk made a ranger without going for the obvious green-all-over look.
Williams’s highlights are very good and a nice original color scheme: orange is the new cool.

    • Hey Arjen!
Awesome to have you back! Thanks for your comment (it’s always nice to see someone is actually reading this stuff 😀 ) and don’t worry – there will be many, many more minis to paint!
If you have one of the elves already painted on your shelf, take a pic and we’ll update the article!
      Yours, Antonia
