Monday Miniatures: Snakeman
This week we stave off an invasion of snake warriors. The minis this week look exceptionally venomous.
World of Twilight – This is a fairly interesting little game. The art style different from the usual fare.
This week, I went with a rattlesnake team like many others. This was a really fun mini to paint.
Antonia went with a similar (but better executed) color scheme. I love how subtle the some of the gradations are. Speaking of subtle, great base, and the tiny little skull.
Kylie went with red, and the results are frightening.
Laura went with pink and purple. It didn’t turn out quite as cute as you would think. I really liked the result. If you did too, be sure to check out the other pictures she posted on her blog.
Magnus went with blue, another vibrant color scheme.
Jessica went with green and purple, and it looks exceptionally vibrant. As always she does a great job with blending.
Clint also went with green, but I think the contrast with the red armor is even more striking.
Last, but certainly not least we have Duze. They didn’t want to go with just one or two colors. The result is a rainbow coral snake.
Also, there were some great late entries from the troll post last week. I would take a minute to check them out, I mean, who could skip a skeleton bursting from the water…
Hydra – Part 1 A model this big I want to take two weeks on. Week 1 will be prep and base coating. This week I want to see everyone’s WIP shots. You have 6 weeks till this project, if you don’t have a hydra, you should consider picking one up. Send pictures to caffeineforge@gmail.com by 3/16/14 at 9pm.
Hydra – Part 2 A whole week just to detail work think about it. I expect to see some really spectacular results from this one. Come on people – this is the week to blow me away
Looking great, everyone! I’ve been a little slammed and haven’t finished anything myself for weeks, but I’m delighted to see the work everyone else keeps churning out week after week!
Antonia, not only is that base fantastic (I envy your base-fu!), but those eyes are spectacular.
Sorry i did not make it this week, but now my twins have new beds. Lots of good designs. Great oxidised armor, david, nice jewels, kylie, antonia gives it raptor eyes instead of snake eyes and it works really well. Also, daring color schemes by laura, magnus and duze and then jessica fooling me with what looks like a classic color scheme, but oh, a purple belly! With Clint’ s snake the eyes get a bit lost in all the patterns, but the red armor is a great find that gives it an iconic quality. So all, keep up the good work!
Odd… there doesn’t seem to be the option to sign in with my Google account for comments anymore.
Anyway, kudos to everyone on the variety of snakes! I especially like the patina on the armor of David’s figure! As I mentioned on my blog, I patterned my Snakeman Warrior after the pygmy rattlesnake. Unfortunately, you can’t see the orange coloration too well in picture above, but I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. Carrying a pattern across such a twisted surface was a challenge, and I think everyone did very well with it.
Next time include the blog post link with your picture and I’ll link to it. You did a fantastic job this week.
Wow! Everyone did a great job! They all look so amazing!
My colour scheme is actually based on a Red Belly Black Snake, one of the deadly snakes here in Australia.
Arjen – Thank you, its the first time I have tried to use that technique on gems. I am really proud of how it turned out.
David – Your Oxidised Armour is amazing! Did you uses weather pigments or just paint?
I used the games workshop special effects paint. It turned out great, didn’t it?
