What Happened to February?
Well, I had a simple goal. A chapter a month, and apparently, that was too complicated. In fairness to past-me, I was pretty sure that I wrote a February post and was as surprised as anyone when I came here to write it. I believe I had the best of intentions when I was a COMPLETE SLACKER.
Oh well. We must keep going.
Things are (mostly) going well. We tried and failed to find a cheaper apartment (don’t get me started on the complexities of that in Germany) but otherwise, everything is doing great. Both me and my wife have been in good health, and I’ve finished a couple more classes for my degree; after my current project I will have 9 more left, which only puts me a couple of decades behind the power curve.
Writing is also going very well. I launched a new series and have finished editing an old one. I just need one more cover to complete the set.
Pre-orders for Book 4 are here, and the newest audiobook (Book 3) can be found here.
I’ve also started working on a tiny video game with a friend about my newest book. That’s right, I might not have a movie, but I do have a game based on one of my books. Big time, here I come.
So, what is my newest work? That’s Blood-Stained Blade. It’s a game-lit story about a sentient (and probably cursed) sword. So far people really seem to like it. It’s my best launch to date. How good? Well, let’s see.
I didn’t graph my first three books. That is due to inexperience as much as the fact as they flopped completely. Letter off the Law had 8 readers after a month of daily posting. Death After Death had like 20, and Tenebroum had 30. By contrast, Bloodstained-Blade has almost 3,100, which is incredible.
Some of that is that my writing is improving, and some of that is that I’m getting better at launching projects. Mostly, though, it’s that I’m getting an audience. One of the things I frequently find myself saying in the last year, is that audience is a superpower, and it really is. The more people who love your stuff, the more they promote it to your friends and the faster you go. It’s a slow process as you can see from the graph above, but it adds up!
